Ink Stain Removal From Pants
Sometimes it just doesn't matter how careful a person is, a stain will get on their clothes. If the stain involves ink and pants, there is hope. It is very feasible to accomplish ink stain removal from pants without having to run out and buy a new pair.
Getting ink out of pants material does require a careful touch. If the stain is noticed as soon as it happens, action right away often will save the material. Even if the stain has had a bit of time to settle in, if the pants haven't gone through a drying cycle, there is still more than a glimmer of hope.
Initial Action
When ink is noticed on pants, take action as quickly as possible. It is often best to remove the pants if at all possible. Should the stain still be wet, try rinsing the fabric out under cold water to remove as much of the ink as possible. Take care when doing this not to let the stain bleed to other parts of the pants material. Do not rub the material when rinsing the stain. This generally causes the stain to spread.
Blot Away
When no more ink comes out with the tap, lay the pants out. If the material cannot be spread out to protect the opposite side from ink spreading, place a towel in between the front and the back of the pants. Now, try blotting at the ink stain with cold water and another towel. Continue this until no more new ink shows up on the clean towel or the ink is gone entirely.
Should plain water and a cloth not do the trick, there are other avenues to explore. Some of the best blotting agents for ink removal include rubbing alcohol, hairspray and finger nail polish remover. Dry cleaning fluids are also useful. Some people swear by pastes made of water and baking soda or lemon juice and salt. Just remember when trying any of these the key is blotting on and off and then rinsing.
Wash But Don't Dry
After everything has been done and no more ink comes out of the pants, the next step is to put the pants in the washing cycle (provided they are not dry clean only). Quite often if a little bit of ink is left, a regular wash will take care of it.
When running ink-stained pants through the wash cycle, remember to use cold water. Wash with like colored clothes and normal detergents. A pre-treatment stain remover can also help lift out any remaining ink left in the pants.
Once the pants have gone through the cycle, inspect them carefully. Do not dry them if any ink is left. Should this be the case, try blotting again and then a final wash.
Getting ink on pants does not signal the end. Ink stain removal is a definite possibility, and sometimes all it takes is a little effort and a lot of blotting and the stain will go away. If action is taken as quickly as possible, the results are generally quite good.
